Commercial Management & Project Controls
We help you actively manage commercial performance throughout contract execution, identifying and mitigating potential risks as they arise.
At KQI, we believe effective commercial management is proactive, strategic, and results-driven. Our experienced team supports clients from project inception through to post-completion, helping them establish robust budgets, monitor and control costs, and achieve clear commercial objectives at every stage of the project life cycle.
How it works
We provide clear, data-driven insight into current market trends and local cost drivers, enabling our clients to understand the true financial implications of their projects from the outset. Our approach helps you make informed decisions, optimise budgets, and proactively avoid or mitigate complex cost risks before they impact delivery.
What we do
- Advise on pretender cost estimates and benchmarks for budgeting purposes of projects.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates based on drawings, BOQs, and market benchmarks.
- Preparing CAPEX and OPEX estimates.
- Identify value-engineering options and cost-efficient alternatives.
- Provide ongoing cost updates during design and planning stages to maintain budget accuracy.
How it works
Keeping a project on budget requires more than a plan. It demands continuous and disciplined monitoring. We implement structured cost control systems that measure actual performance against the approved baseline, providing clear visibility of cost trends as the project progresses. Our focus is on transparency and eliminating surprises, so clients always have a clear and accurate understanding of the project’s financial position.
What we do
-
Implement Project Control systems to monitor committed and actual costs.
-
Prepare periodic cost reports with updated forecasts and cost-to-complete figures.
-
Conduct variance and trend analysis to highlight risks and recommend corrective measures.
-
Adjust budgets and forecasts in response to changes, delays, or claims.
-
Maintain clear communication with all stakeholders to ensure financial transparency.
How it works
Change is inevitable in construction, but disputes are not. We manage the change process in a structured way to protect your contractual entitlements and commercial interests. Our primary goal is to handle changes smoothly, helping clients proactively build claim avoidance strategies and effectively respond to construction claims.
What we do
- Review contract terms to identify change procedures and risk allocations.
- Establish and operate a structured change control system (logs, dashboards, notices).
- Evaluate cost and schedule impacts of variations and advise on the best course of action.
- Conduct regular project “health checks” to identify issues early.
- Support negotiation and early resolution of potential disputes.
- Provide claim assessment and quantum to guide strategic responses.
What sets us apart
We stand out by delivering proactive commercial management that goes beyond cost tracking. Our approach links day-to-day construction activities with clear commercial outcomes, allowing risks to be identified early and managed before they impact cost or programme.
Through strong project controls, disciplined change management, and contract-focused oversight, we help our clients achieve predictable cost performance and reduce the likelihood of disputes.
